Emma Watson Named the Most Stylish British Female.

Oversized sweats and sneakers may be a staple on most college campuses, but the chill wear isn't for this Brown undergrad. Watson's Emma Watson has been named the most stylish British female by Glamour UK. The mag raves, "From Hermione in Hogwarts robes to the face of Burberry Prorsum, Emma Watson's rise and rise to style fame has been an interesting one. Granted that the star commits a fair few faux pas in the style department, she is the golden girl in the front row at [London Fashion Week] and has re-ignited our love of the classic trench." We agree...but for different reasons. For us, Emma Watson represents a new generation of fashionistas. She's taken her love of fabulous clothing and merged that with her desire to make the world a better place. While taking a break from studying, Emma -- who collaborated with People Tree to design her own clothing line -- visited Bangladesh and spent time in the slums of Dhaka. There she saw women stuck in poverty and living in horrid conditions. Next she visited a community that operates under People Tree's notion of fair trade.

"It's fantastic what [People Tree] has been able to do [through fair trade]," Emma says. "Not only do these women have jobs, but they're earning the same amount as men -- there is gender equality...
there is the day care center, and also a domestic violence program for the women who are being abused...you're essentially giving these people the opportunity to help themselves out of poverty and that's all they really want."
It's not Emma's impressive closet that makes her the ultimate female style icon -- it's how she uses her fame and fashion sense to save other women.
