Emma Watson flew the flag for British designers at the Met Ball charity gala, the most glittering event in New York's fashion calendar.

The Harry Potter actress, 20, wore a custom-made Burberry gown and was accompanied by Christopher Bailey, the fashion house's chief creative officer.

The Costume Institute Gala, co-hosted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, was held at Manhattan's Metropolitan Museum of Art. The A-list guests included Renee Zellweger, Oprah Winfrey, Jude Law and Jennifer Lopez.
